Kapton tape is a very thin, heat-resistant electrical insulating tape that's particularly useful when installing DCC decoders and other electronic components where space is limited.

For model railway decoder installations, it can be used to help secure the decoder in position and provide electrical insulation between the decoder, wiring and surrounding components. It's a useful alternative where you don't want to use decoder putty or double-sided mounting products.

Its thin profile makes it particularly useful inside locomotives where available space can be extremely limited.
